MALES & FEMALES: QPH was founded in 1887 and still competes in the ‘Danebury red and white hooped vests’ and operates in the Paddington and Willesden areas. Among their internationals have been Eddie Toms who captured a bronze medal in the 1924 Olympic 4x400m relay and Bert Ives 1m and cross country, Mike Lindsay, shot and discus and his brother Chris at 440y with throwers Tony Cunnew and Peter Tancred. Norman Futter 400mH, Derek Cole and Alan Lerwill, both LJ and Maurice Pugh, middle distances have all represented their country. Recent internationals have been Marion Bell (LJ) and Diane Smith, world junior 200m champion, Rupert Charles HJ and John Willoughby vets cross country. The club competes in the mens and womens southern track & field leagues, while the younger members enter the Thames-side League at Battersea. During the winter the club engages in the Chiltern League for cross-country. The club is a founder member of the Middlesex Co. and the North of the Thames CCA, founded 1894, and is affiliated to the Race Walking Association. Headquarters: Willesden Stadium, Donnington Rd., London NW10. Training nights Tues. & Thur. 6:30pm- when coaching is available. Also At Paddington Recreation Ground, Calton Vale, NW6 Thurs 7.00 pm. Club membership from 11 years of age. |
