Web-site: www.metros.org.uk MALES & FEMALES: The club started life in 1981 as the north west division of the London Road Runners at the beginning of the running boom as a family orientated running club. The principal event organised by Metros is the Harrow Hill Race. The club, in conjunction with Royston Runners, also stages a commemorative 50 mile 5 stage relay race from Pinner to Royston (formerly an invitation-only event). The club competes in track, field and road events. Cross-country competition is in the Thames Valley League. Runners of all ages and abilities are made welcome. We also welcome second claim members who, through the club, will have access to a greater range of events. Runners of all abilities and ages are welcome. There are some good veterans amongst their ranks. There are various road training runs which are most popular.Mondays: 17.15 Ruislip Lido Car Park, Reservoir Road, Ruislip (Suitable for beginners & slow runners). 20.15 Headstone Lane, North Harrow {Adjacent to the width restriction}. (Various distances and paces). Tuesdays: 20.00 Lowlands Tennis Club, Lowlands Road, Eastcote. (Road runs of 5-10 miles at 6-10 mile minute pace. Not suitable for beginners. Wednesdays: 19.15Middle Road, Harrow on the Hill. {Adjacent to John Lyon School} (Hill run. Repetitions on second Wednesday of the month). Not suitable for beginners. Thursdays: 19.30 Kings College Road entrance to Park Wood, Ruislip. (Various distances and paces). Saturdays: 09.00 Roxbourne Park, Cannon Lane, Pinner. (Southern-most end). Suitable for all ages and abilities. Refreshments in the Scout Hut afterwards. Sundays: 09.30 Kings College Road entrance to Park Wood, Ruislip. (Various distances and paces). N.B. Training runs are also organised between similar runners on an ad-hoc basis. |
