Founded in 1887: woman's section was formed in 1976. In the very early days the club operated mostly in Westminster, but since 1920s in Battersea and South London. Tommy Green won the Olympic 50k walk in 1932. Other individual champions have included Arthur Penny (British Empire Games 6 miles in 1934), Stan Vickers (European 20km walk in 1958), Du'aine Ladejo (European 400m in 1994) and Darren Campbell (European 100m in 1998). Over 100 of the club's members have represented their countries. Belgrave were National cross-country champions in 1935, 1939, 1946, 1948 and 2004. National road relay champions 1934, 1935, 1936, 1947, 1948, 1949, 1951, 2002, 2003 and 2005. National 6-Stage road relay champions 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2005. National cross-country relay champions 2003. The club is a member of Division 1 of the British Athletics League (champions in 1992, 1995, 1997-2004). Headquarters: Belgrave Hall, Denmark Road, Wimbledon, SW19 4PG for cross-country, road running and road walking; changing rooms, gym, bar; training times Saturdays at 2. Pm., Sundays at 10.15 pm, Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6.30 pm, Track: Millenium Arena, Battersea Park, training at 6.30 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays. |
